As the Football leagues in Carlow pass the half way stage the various teams from Tinryland G.F.C. are enjoying mixed fortunes. The most successful team so far has been the Junior (A) team who remain unbeaten after 4 games and top Division 4. To date this team has defeated Kildavin-Clonegal, Eire Og, St. Andrews and Old Leighlin and should easily make the knockout stages having still to play Mount Leinster Rangers (Home), O’Hanrahans (Away) and Askea (Home) over the next 3 Sunday’s.

In Division 1 the senior team are finding the going tough having been forced to field on occasions without their full complement for various reasons. The seniors began the season on a winning note defeating Kildavin-Clonegal and sharing the spoils with Kilbride. The last 2 matches have produced disappointing results however with the team suffering heavy losses to both Old Leighlin and Rathvilly.  Tinryland still has time to rectify the situation and have three further games in Division 1 against Mount Leinster Rangers (Home), Eire Og (Away) and Palatine (Home) over the next 3 Saturday’s.

The most active team in the club has been the Junior B squad who have played 9 games to date in Division 5 winning three games but putting up good displays in most of the other games. This league has given those players who are returning to the game a great outlet to get game time before challenging for places on the Junior (A) squad. The Junior B team have still to play further games against Leighlinbridge (Home), Grange (Away), Fenagh (Home) and Naomh Eoin (Away) over the next 4 Mondays.

At Minor level the Minor B squad have already captured silverware winning the Division 2 title while the Minor (A) team has defeated Eire Og and lost to Palatine. They are due to play Michael Davitts (Home) on this coming Sunday morning 11 a.m. before taking on St. Andrews (Away) next week to determine the knockout stages on the M.F.L. Division 1.
