Tinryland Bow Out of Carlow SFC

Tinryland suffered a disappointing 1-11 to 0-9 point defeat at the hands of Rathvilly in this evening's SFC semi-final at Dr Cullen Park. Tinryland started the brighter and controlled the opening quarter of the game. However, from a Tinryland perspective the outcome of the game was largely determined by two key turning points. In the 22nd minute Padraig Townsend was given a straight red card for retaliation after winning a free. With one man down Tinryland started to flounder and went in at half time with a one point deficit (6 points to 5). Tinryland started the second half brightly and managed to level the match (seven points each) after 35 minutes. However, our tale of woe was exacerbated when Trevor O'Reilly inexplicably advanced past his 20 metre line only to see a high speculative shot drop short of the crossbar and into the back of the net. After this our fate was essentially sealed (despite reducing the deficit to one point after 44 minutes) and Rathvilly ran out comfortable winners by a five point margin in the end.
