Tinryland G.A.A. Nationalist sports notes for 3rd October

Jonah Dunne was the first recipient of the John Scott memorial shield for U16 player of the year at the Tinryland juvenile G.F.C. awards night held in the clubhouse on Saturday last. Mrs Bernadette Scott widow of the late Tinryland G.F.C. official presented the shield in front of a large attendance.

On the night awards were presented to players of the year and most promising players in age groups ranging from U11 to U16.

The event was attended by Ronan Dempsey operations manager of Carlow Co. board and speakers included Tinryland G.F.C. juvenile chairman Bernard Mullen, senior club chairman Mick Murphy and Tinryland N.S. principal Orlaith Ni Mhordha.

The full list of award winners were as follows: U11 player of the year Bobby Doyle, U11 most promising player Robbie Fitzgerald, U12 player of the year Sarah Nolan, U12 most promising player Alan Bohanna, U13 player of the year Cillian Fagan, U13 most promising player Cian McGuire, U14 player of the year Michael Hosey, U14 most promising player James Hayden, U15 player of the year Daniel Donegan, U15 most promising player Daire Brophy, U16 player of the year and John Scott shield winner Jonah Dunne, U16 most promising player John Dempsey.

Other award winners included U12 strength and conditioning winner Jonah Webb and U14 strength and conditioning winner Michael Regan while special awards in the U15 age group were presented to Adam Fennelly, Killian Nolan and Harry Fennelly.

The season at adult level will finish up on this coming Friday 7.30 p.m. when the Tinryland Junior (A) team will attempt to maintain their Junior (A) status when they play Rathvilly in a relegation battle at the Palatine G.A.A. grounds in Bennekerry.

Best wishes to Bennekerry-Tinryland senior ladies team who take on Clann na Gael from Meath in the opening round of the Leinster ladies J.F.C. at a Meath venue on Sunday next.

The six week bootcamp will commence at the club grounds in Rathcrogue on this coming Saturday at 9.30 a.m. All ranges of fitness from beginner to advanced will be catered for. For further enquiries contact 085 8402756 or 085 1217547.
