Tinryland G.F.C. club Notes 10th July 2018

Now that the  inter county action has come to an end attention will  focus on the inter club scene and the upcoming Carlow championships. Tinryland has already been in action at Junior (B) level with the team recording a win over O’Hanrahans and a loss to Eire Og. The final group game in the Junior (B) championship will be against Kildavin-Clonegal in Rathcrogue on Wednesday 18th July.

At senior level Tinryland will compete in group 1 of the Michael Lyng Motors Carlow S.F.C. The men in blue and white will open their campaign with a local derby against Palatine of week ending 22nd July. Further games against Rathvilly and Old Leighlin will take place on week ending 5th and week ending 26th August.

At junior (A) level Tinryland will compete in group 2 of the Talbot Hotel J.F.C. with their opening game against St. Patrick’s on 24th July. Further games in August will take place against Leighlinbridge and Naomh Eoin.

Carlow lady footballers embark on their All Ireland campaign on Saturday next 14th July with a home game against Derry at 2 p.m. Roisin Byrne Nuala Mohan, Leah Mullins, Ciara Nolan and Elaine Ware are the Bennekerry-Tinryland  representatives on the Carlow panel that recently lost the Leinster final to Louth.

Four members from the Tinryland handball club will travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the World handball championships commencing on 9th August. Kevin Barrett will compete at senior (A) level with Aaron Geoghegan and Jeff Atkinson competing at senior (C) level.  Katie Barrett will compete in the girls U15 grade. Carlow handball board are currently holding a raffle in support of the players. Tickets are €3 each and prizes include 2 tickets to the All- Ireland football final, 2 tickets to a Derek Ryan concert and one night B & B in a Dublin hotel.
