The juvenile section of the club will remember the late John Scott at their awards night which will take place in the clubhouse on Saturday next 30th September at 8 p.m. John who passed away 2 years ago will be remembered by a trophy in his name which will go to the U16 player of the year. The late John was a tremendous asset to the club and served in many positions prior to his passing and it is fitting that his memory will continue on an annual basis as he had a particular interest in the development of young players in Tinryland G.F.C. At next Saturdays event awards will be presented to players aged 11 to 16. A successful skills day and presentation evening for younger players took place on Saturday last. Tinryland G.F.C. after a number of lean years had a satisfactory year at juvenile level in 2017 with all teams at least reaching a semi-final in their respective age groups. The U14 team were in action last evening Monday in the Fairgreen Shopping Centre division 2 final against O’Hanrahans.

The ladies team that recently won a 3rd consecutive Carlow S.F.C. will now contest the 1st round of the Leinster J.F.C. against Meath opponents on week ending 8th October.

A six week boot camp will begin at club headquarters in Rathcrogue on Saturday 7th October. All levels of fitness from beginner to advanced will be catered for. Enquiries to Cian on 085 8402756 or Marcus 085 1217547.

Congratulations to senior player John Murphy on his great achievement in winning the National U21 ploughing title in Screggan Co. Offaly on the opening day of the ploughing championships on Tuesday last. John recently won an U21 football medal with Tinryland and featured in all the senior championship games this year. Congratulations also go to senior team goalkeeper Trevor O’Reilly and his wife Roisin on the birth of their new daughter on Sunday last.
