Tinryland senior footballers lost their final game in group 1 of the Michael Lyng Motors S.F.C. against Old Leighlin at Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday last. Despite enjoying a lot of possession Tinryland kicked 24 wides during the game and never headed the former champions who led by 3 points at half time. Old Leighlin who were much more efficient when presented with a scoring chance got the only goal of the game mid- way through the 2nd half and they went on to win the game by 5 points in the end. Tinryland will now play the runners up in group 2 Eire Og in the quarter final on Saturday 16th September.

The 2 junior teams from the club will be in action this week in the Talbot Hotel J.F.C. with the junior (A) team in action this Tuesday evening against St. Patricks in the Palatine grounds at Bennekerry with a 7.30 p.m. throw in. The Junior (B) team will play their final group game in the J.F.C. (B) against Eire Og on tomorrow Wednesday in Rathcrogue at 8 p.m. The minor team who are finding the going tough in the (A) division this year were in action last evening Monday against one of this year’s minor championship favourites Fenagh.

The club lotto still stands at 10,000 euro and is held every Monday night at 10 p.m. sharp in aid of club development. A new security fence is being erected at the club grounds in Rathcrogue this week. Well done to the U12 and U16 teams from the club that have reached the semi-final stages of their respective championships. The next executive meeting of the club will now be held on Monday next 4th September at 8 p.m. Best wishes to the members of the Bennekerry-Tinryland senior ladies team in their upcoming Co. final against Old Leighlin and to the team members on the Carlow panel that has reached the All Ireland semi-final against Derry having beaten Kilkenny last weekend in the quarter final.
