Tinryland G.F.C. Notes Tuesday 8th May 2018

After a lapse of two years the club lotto jackpot of 10,000 euro was finally won on Monday last 7th May. The winning numbers were 3, 10,19,22 and the lucky winner was long serving club supporter May Byrne of Ballybar Upper. The winning ticket was sold by Eamonn Byrne. Next week’s lotto jackpot will once again be 10,000 euro.

Following the successful staging of the Carlow Football forum by Tinryland G.F.C. on Saturday last the club will now begin planning for the 50 year re-union of the successful U21 and senior teams from 1967, 1968 and 1969. This event will take place on Friday 8th June. Any former players who are in possession of photographs from the era are requested to contact any one of the organising sub- committee. The organising committee for this event is Liam Byrne, David Power, David Byrne, Pat Foster, Mick Murphy and Eamonn Byrne.

On the playing front the Junior B team are still looking for a first win in division 4 following last Wednesday’s defeat to a strong Rathvilly side. The Junior B team will be back in action on this coming Wednesday at home to Railyard at 7.30 p.m. The Junior (A) team had their first win in division 3 away to Asca on Friday last. Outstanding for the men in blue and white were goalkeeper Ciaran Byrne, full back Peter Doran, Midfielders Mark Morrissey and Keith Jackson together with forwards Gregg Murphy, Paul Doyle, Eoghan Hosey and Dean Farrell. This team will be back in action on Saturday next 12th May at home to St. Patrick’s at 7 p.m.   The senior team will play St. Andrews in division 1 on this evening Tuesday 8th May in Rathcrogue at 8 p.m.

Tinryland G.F.C. wishes good luck to the Carlow Senior team who take on Louth in the Leinster S.F.C. on Sunday next in Portlaoise. Five Tinryland players are part of the Carlow panel. They are Paul Broderick, Shane Redmond, Danny Moran, Diarmaid Walshe and Cian Lawlor. Tinryland G.F.C. will be running a bus to Portlaoise for the game and there are a limited number of seats still available. Further details from Peenie Whelan 086 2374297.
