Tinryland G.F.C. off to Feile Peil na NÓg once again

Tinryland G.FC. will continue its love affair with the All Ireland Feile Peil Na Nog when this years crop of U14s depart for Cork next Thursday morning 30th June. Previously successful at the 3 day tournament in 1999 in Clare and again in 2004 in Tyrone the Tinryland club will be making its 7th appearance as the Carlow representatives in the finals next weekend.

Kinsale will be the Carlow club’s hosts at this years event and the competition begins for the boys in blue and white with a game against the host club in Riverstick at 12. noon on Thursday.

After taking part in the huge Feile parade on Thursday evening in Cork the Carlow boys will be back in action on Friday with games against Moyle Rovers from Tipperary and  Cork clubs Sliabh Rua and Ballinhassig with the group winners advancing to Friday evenings semi finals.

The following is a profile of the 30 strong panel that will travel to Cork:

Bradleigh Nolan: A lively midfielder with strength and power. Favourite Tinryland senior player Ian Scully.

Brendan Foley: A strong and sound corner back who would stop a train. Favourite Tinryland senior player Robbie Power

Brendan Quirke-Bolt: A nippy corner forward who is difficult to mark and a great ball winner. Favourite Tinryland player Peter Doran

Cathal Gaffney: Teak tough defender who is very dependable and hard to pass. Favourite player Padraig Whelan.

Ciaran Byrne: a safe and sound goalkeeper with a kick out any senior player would be proud of. Favourite player: Trevor O’Reilly.

Ciaran Larkin: A skillful wing forward with a great football brain and very effective with both feet. Favourite player John Paul Moore

Conor McGrath. A tall energetic player who is skillful with both feet and is very effective with his delivery of the ball. Favourite player Danny Moran

Dylan Reamsbottom: A player with boundless energy and a burst of pace any sprinter would be proud of. Favourite player Jeff Sutton

Fionnan Burke: A player who will stay going forever and is a very dependable wing back Favourite player Cormac Walshe

Jamie Noctor: Players don’t come any more dependable than this young man. Any forward who gets past him deserves a score. Favourite player Darren Murphy

Jason Curran: An excellent corner forward with a pile driver of a shot. Favourite player Padraig Townsend

John Murphy: The target man with a brilliant pair of hands and feet. Very effective full forward. Favourite player Keith Jackson

Killian Maher: A very strong intelligent corner back who is extremely accurate with his delivery. Favourite player Niall Barrett

Niall Lowry: The playmaker of the team he is at the heart of every attack and has a rocket of a shot. Favourite player Conor Byrne.

Niall Scully: A very pacy wing forward who is accurate with both feet and posesses an engine that goes forever. Favourite player Ian Scully

Odhran Keenan: Corner back who is as tough as steel and very hard to get by. Favourite player Matthew O’Toole.

Peter Hennessy: Has played in every position on the pitch this year and is a young man with great potential. Favourite player Shane Redmond

Seamus Curran: Is a wing back who is a great reader of the game and always aims to be first to the ball everytime. Favourite player Cian Moore

Sean Regan: Corner back who is improving rapidly through hard work and dedication. Favourite player Glen Doyle

Dean Dunne: Centre back who is very speedy and attack minded and is well capable of taking a score when the opportunity presents itself. Favourite player Paul Broderick

Ciaran Byrne: Corner forward who is well capable of picking off scores. Favourite player John Paul Moore

Conor Ryan: Strong player who is not afraid of the dirty ball. Possesses a turbo engine and is very skilful with his delivery. Favourite player Joey Ryan

Cormac Kelly Corner back and sub goalkeeper who is teak tough and is very good to tackle. Favourite player Danny Moran

Eamonn Murphy: a wing back who will attack every ball down his wing and will always deliver to the correct spot. Favourite player Padraig Delaney

Gavin Power: Centre forward who can turn on a sixpence and score and who possesses a great pair of hands and feet. Favourite player Garry Morrissey

Jack McNally: A corner forward who works his socks off and possesses a sweet left foot . Favourite player Padraig Townsend.

Lee Kane: Centre Back who reads a game like a book making it look easy. Fast, skillful and strong. Favourite player Evan Doyle

Michael Debosh: Forward who can easily beat his marker and will punish a defence with his accurate skills. Favourite player Glen Doyle

Padraig Webb: A gem of a forward who never stops working for the ball and is very hard to mark. Favourite player Cormac Walshe

Rory Doyle: Wing back who can stop any forward no matter what size. Very hard worker who likes to attack when the opportunity arises. Favourite player Shane Redmond

Adrian Lee: Only in his second year playing the game and is a strong physical and fit player. Favourite player John Paul Moore

Matthew Kenny: Corner forward who can score from acute angles. He has the heart of a lion and the power of one too. Favourite player Danny Moran

Bill Calvey: Goalkeeper who is safer than any bank and is very good under a high ball. Favourite player Trevor O’Reilly

Alan Grogan: Wing forward who has boundless skill and determination and will set up many an attack for his team. Favourite player Robbie Power
