Carlow Seniors
Pride of place this week goes to the Carlow footballers and the 3 Tinryland players on a magnificent performance in reaching the last 16 of the All Ireland Senior Football Championship. Paul Broderick, Danny Moran and Shane Redmond all contributed to a great Carlow performance against Leitrim at Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday last. When the game ended the team was given a great reception by the Carlow supporters and it was lovely to see many young members from the club seeking out the Carlow and Tinryland players for autographs and photos after the game. Performances like on Saturday will give a big lift to the game at club level throughout the county. The lads will be back in action on Saturday next against Monaghan back at Netwatch Cullen Park as Carlow attempt to progress further in this year’s championship.

Carlow Juniors
Not to be outdone, the Carlow ladies had success over the weekend also when they won the Leinster Junior final against Kilkenny at Netwatch Cullen Park. Congratulations to the team and the Bennekerry-Tinryland players on the panel. They were Deirdre Tomlinson, Leah Mullins, Elaine Ware, Clíodhna Ní Shé, Leanne Corcoran and Shannen Cotter. Carlow will now embark on an attempt at winning the All Ireland Junior championship when their opponents will include, London, Lancashire, Antrim, Kilkenny, Fermanagh, Derry and Armagh.

Tinryland U21 Team
It was a good week at club level also for Tinryland with the U21 team progressing to the semi-final of the championship. The U21s advanced to a last 4 date with Palatine or Eire Og when they easily dismissed the challenge of a youthful Fenagh at the Carlow Training Centre on Friday last. The men in blue and white were in control of this game from the early stages and 2 first half goals from the captain Conor O’Toole and centre back Cathal Gaffney laid the foundations for this win. In the second half Tinryland scored a further 1-8 with midfielder Peter Hennessy scoring a 3rd goal in the 45th minute. Outstanding for the hoops were Adam Dunne, John Murphy, Fionnán Burke, Niall Lowry, Conor O’Toole, James McGrath and Mark Lawlor.

Tinryland Juniors
The Junior (A) team are scheduled to play Fenagh in the SFL division 3 semi-final at the Training Centre on Wednesday 12th July at 7.30 p.m.
Adam Murphy son of Tinryland GFC chairman Mick continues to impress on the athletic track and he put up another outstanding performance on Friday last in Letterkenny when he placed third behind a Brazillian and a British runner in an International 200m race.
