The seniors maintained their unbeaten record in the S.F.L. division 1 with a hard fought win in Borris on Sunday evening against a determined Mount Leinster Rangers. In a competitive first half goals from Cormac Walshe and Niall Lowry gave Tinryland a 5 point advantage when the half time whistle sounded. Early in the 2nd half Tinryland increased the advantage to 7 points but then had to withstand a strong M.L.R. recovery that saw the south Carlow team score 1-2 in an 8 minute spell. Tinryland responded with points from Cormac Walshe, Keith Jackson and sub Paul Broderick to take the league points with a goal to spare. The team is back in action this coming weekend in round 5 against O’Hanrahans.

The No 2 junior team are finding life difficult in division 4 and they shipped another heavy defeat at the hands of O’Hanrahans on Wednesday last.

Congratulations to club member Martin Byrne on his successful trip to the Cheltenham sales on Thursday last when his home bred recent point to point winner Global Citizen topped the sale against the elite of National Hunt bloodstock. The gelding which was trained in Rathoe by Willie Murphy of Ballycurragh stud and is by the Ballycurragh sire Alkadem will now be trained in Gloucestershire by John Joe O’Neill.
