Tinryland Lose County Final

posted 17 Oct 2011, 04:04 by
Tinryland lost the SFC Final at Dr. Cullen Park by the slimmest of margins (1-07 to 1-08) to county champions Old Leighlin. This was a lacklustre performance where Tinryland scored only two points in the first half and they enteretd the break four points adrift. They battled bravely in the second half but the lack of scores in the first half haunted them in the end. Ironically, Tinryland got the first two scores of the first half and looked like they were going to inflict serious damage on the Old Leighlin defence. However, the loss of influential midfielder Keith Jackson, numerous handling errors, lack of scores from play and numerous misdirected passes resulted in a heart breaking defeat for the hoops. Despite this the team battled bravely to the end and we applaud their effort. In the 2011 season Tinryland have lost both the league and championship finals by one solitory point and surely if the team stay together and work harder the rewards will come. Congratulations to the players and mentors on bringing back great excitement and pride to the club.
