Tinryland Lose Opening JFC 'A' Match to Éire Óg

Yet again Tinryland lose to their perennial rivals in this opening match of the Junior A Championship. Despite starting with a lot of energy and possession they entered the break trailing by 1-1 to 2-5. Despite outscoring Éire Óg in the second half they ended up losing by 4 points (final score 2-07 to 2-11). In fact, had it not been for the heroics of Tinryland goalkeeper Darren Murphy who made a number of point blank saves the deficit would have been greater. Éire Óg and Carlow veteran Willie Quinlan defied his years and controlled this match from the centre-half forward position. He also had the honour of playing with his son who came on in the second half.
