13 Man Tinryland Overcome Old Leighlin SFL Div 1

Tinryland showed huge determination and work ethic to overcome the county champions (despite a 2 man numerical disadvantage for three quarters of the match) in their SFL Division 1 encounter last night. This was a match marred in controversy. Half way through the first half a melee broke out that involved many players on both sides. For some inexplicable reason the referee and his umpires could only manage to pick out two Tinryland players for straight red cards. Despite this setback Tinryland led by 1-08 to no score at half time. Despite playing into the wind in the second half, Tinryland worked themselves into the ground, proving their mettle to manager Martin Murphy. Paul Broderick provided a master class scoring 1-07 of Tinryland's total of 1-11. In fact Old Leighlin did not score until six minutes into the second half. The final score was Tinryland 1-11 Old Leighlin 0-07.
