Another League win for Tinryland Junior A team puts them in contention for knockout stages

Tinryland junior (A) team are firmly in contention for a place in the knockout stages of division 4 following their impressive win against Mount Leinster Rangers in Borris on Thursday 30th April.

Tinryland started this game well and were 4 points in front after 10 minutes before the home side enjoyed a purple patch scoring 1-3 without reply. The teams then shared a pair of points each before the referee sounded the half time whistle to leave the scoreboard reading Mount Leinster Rangers 1-5 Tinryland 0-7.

When play resumed Tinryland corner forward David Townsend rattled the ‘Rangers net to regain the lead for the men in blue and white. Tinryland then began to dominate proceedings with a stern defence of Eddie Dowling, John Whyte, Sean Kirwan, Jack Lowry, Padraig Delaney and man of the match Garry Scully keeping the south Carlow boys at bay. A Garry Fields goal in the 50th minute firmly put Tinryland on the victory trail and despite a late M.L.R. goal Tinryland bagged another 2 league points to move into semi-final contention with 2 league games remaining. Tinryland will play O’Hanrahans at home on Thursday next 7th May at 7.p.m. with their final game away to Asca on Thursday 14th May. Others to play well were Gregg Murphy, Cathal O’Toole and David Townsend.
