Ballinabranna’s 2nd string overcame Tinryland’s 3rd team in a competitive division 5 round 6 game in Rathcrogue on Easter Monday. The winners got off to the best possible start when their centre forward Graham Amond crashed home a goal within seconds of the throw in. Tinryland were back on level terms by the 8th minute when Cathal Whelan cracked home a goal following good approach play from Brian Farrell and John White. After both teams had traded points Tinryland took the lead for the first time when Brian Farrell pointed in the 11th minute following good play from Padraig Whelan and Jack Lowry. This was the cue for Ballinabranna to up the ante and they scored 5 points without reply before half time to leave the interval score Ballinabranna 1-6  Tinryland 1-2

The winners increased their advantage with a point in the opening minute of the 2nd half before Eoin Fields raised a white flag for Tinryland following good play by John Jackson and John White.

Cathal Whelan then scored his second goal following a great passing movement involving John White, John Jackson and Gary Scully. With only a point separating the sides now it was all to play for but by the 40th minute Ballinabranna had restored their 4 point advantage with a superbly worked goal. Ballinabranna then added two further points which were matched by Gary Scully and John Jackson. Tinryland then enjoyed a purple patch scoring further points from Jackson and Padraig Whelan. Indeed it could have been even better for the home side as sub Alan Byrne was narrowly wide with a gilt edged goal chance. The game ended with 2 further Ballinabranna points to leave the final score Ballinabranna 2-13 Tinryland 2-7
