SFL Div1 Palatine V Tinryland Friday 5th April

posted 9 Apr 2019, 04:22 by

Tinryland seniors picked up their first point of their league campaign in an entertaining match against their neighbours Palatine at Palatine G.F.C on Friday Night. Conditions were poor but that did not stop the home team from taking control. With the help of two goals, it left the home side leading 2-6 to 0-4 at the half time break. The 8 point deficit left Tinryland supporters wondering how their team would respond in the second half given that their past two second half performances were very poor. But credit to the Tinryland lads, they upped their game. Goals from Shane Redmond and Glen Doyle left the visitors only 2 points down. After a high ball was launched towards their goal, the Palatine defence was unable to control the situation and the ball ended up in the back of the net. Tinryland then took the lead for the first time in the match with time almost up. However Palatine had one more chance in the dying stages after Tinryland gifted them the ball. The home team pressed forward and kicked the equalising point. A fair result. Final score Palatine 2-10, Tinryland 3-7. Special thanks to Palatine G.F.C who donated their gate takings to the Carlow Hospice. The Andy Murphy Shield remains in Palatine Clubhouse.
