SFL Div 4 Tinryland V Railyard

Railyard denied Tinryland a first win in division 4 when they finished well to overcome a 3 point defecit on Wednesday last in Rathcrogue. Star of the show for the Moneenroe based team was Ryan Maguire brother of Irish soccer star Seanie.

The Carlow border team started well with early points from Maguire and his cousin Mark but Tinryland settled down to raise 4 unanswered points from Tommy Dunne, Seamus Curran, Gregg Murphy and John Whyte. The home team gained the initiative just before half time with a superb goal from Gregg Murphy following good play by Gary Fields and John Whyte. With ten minutes remaining Tinryland still maintained a 2 point lead but the Kilkenny team then sprung to life scoring 4 points via Ryan Maguire (3) and Ger Campion before the lively Maguire got the crucial goal with 3 minutes remaining to give Railyard victory.

Outstanding for the winners were Ryan Maguire, Paul O’Neill, Pauric Dowd, Eddie Roche, John Dowd and Ger Campion. Tinryland were best served by Jack Lowry, Colm Kearney, John Whyte, Gregg Murphy, Padraid Delaney and Gary Fields.
