                        Tinryland 4-10                    Michael Davitts 0-2

U16 League champions Tinryland carried their good form into the championship when they comfortably accounted for the home side in Ballinaboley on Wednesday 3rd July.

Despite the final score this game was competitive for long spells with Michael Davitts matching Tinryland for much of the first half. Tinryland corner forward Conall Dunne and centre forward James McGrath were the difference between the sides in that first half scoring 1-3 between them while in defence Tinryland soaked up a lot of Michael Davitts pressure holding the Leighlin parish outfit to a single first half point scored by midfielder

Sean Bambrick. Just after the restart Tinryland were reduced to 14 players but similar to many games played  recently the numerical handicap seemed to spur them on and they stretched comfortably clear  helped by goals from Conall Dunne, Brendan Quirke-Bolt and Niall Lowry. When reduced to 14 players following the dismissal of Jason Curran early in the second half the Tinryland defence came to the fore and there were excellent performances from goalkeeper Ciaran Byrne and the entire defensive sextet of  Bradleigh Nolan, John Murphy, Conor Ryan, Fionnan Burke, Cathal Gaffney and Dylan Reamsbottom. At midfield Niall Lowry and Peter Hennessy did trojan work while the forwards led by Dunne and McGrath were well supported by Ciaran Larkin, Eamonn Murphy, Brendan Quirke-Bolt and Adam Mullen.

The U16 team are back in action on Friday 12th July with a home game at 7.30 p.m. against Mount Leinster Rangers.

Tinryland: Ciaran Byrne, Bradleigh Nolan, John Murphy, Conor Ryan, Fionnan Burke, Cathal Gaffney, Dylan Reamsbottom 0-1, Niall Lowry captain 1-1, Peter Hennessy, 0-1,

Ciaran Larkin, James McGrath 0-4, Eamonn Murphy, Brendan Quirke-Bolt 1-0, Adam Mullen, Conall Dunne 2-3.
