Tinryland then responded with a class goal from Ciaran Townsend after a brilliant movement involving Patrick Townsend, Dean Farrell and David Townsend. A further point from Alan Barrett after good play from Dean Farrell, Padraig Delaney, Kevin Barrett and Chris Townsend was followed by a successful free from David Townsend to give Tinryland a three point advantage mid way through the opening half. By this stage Tinryland had introduced Eddie Dowling into the defence after corner back James Moore picked up an injury.
