Tinryland strolled into a semi final date with league leaders St Andrews when easily accounting for Naomh Eoin in the last Division 3 league game of the season at Rathcrogue on Wednesday 27th June. This game was over as a contest after only 15 minutes as the home side built up a lead of 1-8 to 0-0. The Tinryland goal in the 11th minute by Dean Farrell followed excellent work by Jack Lowry and Richard Whyte. The opening stages were completely dominated by Tinryland with Garry Fields, Kevin Barrett, Richard Whyte and David Townsend all contributing to the tally. By the 24th minute the score read 2-10 to 0-0 with David Townsend raising another green flag to completely put the contest out of reach of a very disappointing Naomh Eoin. When referee Olly Hynes sounded the half time whistle the score was 2-13 to 0-1 with the Myshall team finally opening their account in the 29th minute.

It was more of the same after the restart as Garry Fields pointed after 20 seconds and he went on to finish with a personal tally of six points. Other Tinryland players to get on the 2nd half score sheet were Jack Lowry, Mark Dempsey, Richard Whyte, Conor O’Brien with Myshall only adding a further 3 points to leave the final score 2-21 to 0-4.

Tinryland will now play St Andrews in the semi final next week and will hope to reverse the earlier meeting between the sides when some dubious refereeing and a number of injuries contributed to a 3 point defeat in Bagenalstown.

Tinryland: Colm Nolan, Joey Ryan, Mark Dempsey 0-1, Eddie Dowling, Brian Farrell 0-1, Matthew O’Toole, Greg Murphy, Patrick Townsend, John Dwyer, Jack Lowry 0-3, Richard Whyte 0-5, Dean Farrell 1-0, Garry Fields 0-6, Kevin Barrett 0-1, David Townsend 1-2. Subs Cathal O’Toole, Paul McGrath, Conor O’Brien 0-2
