Tinryland Junior B’s staged a remarkable comeback to share the spoils against neighbours Fighting Cocks with 3 second half goals from veteran corner forward Mick Moore in this S.F. Div. 5 clash in Rathcrogue on Wednesday 13th May. After a poor start to the game Tinryland began to get their act together in the latter stages of the 1st half and an Alan Byrne goal together with points from Adam Mullen, and Garry Scully put respectability on the scoreboard after the ‘Cocks had led by 7 points after 25 minutes. Alan Kirwan had opened the scoring for the home side with a point in the opening minute but a goal from Matthew Pearson and points from Keith Donaghue, Seamus Quirke, Jim Byrne, David Shanahan, Keith Bolger and Alan Joyce put the Rathoe team firmly in the driving seat before the home teams late first half rally. Half time score Fighting Cocks 1-8 Tinryland 1-4.

A Paul Doyle point within 60 seconds of the restart narrowed the gap to 3 points but it then went pear shaped for the men in blue and white hoops as Fighting Cocks scored 2 goals and 2 points in a 5 minute spell to open up an eleven point advantage. Enter Mick Moore who then rattled the Cocks net in the 45th, 51st and 54th minutes to leave only 4 points separating the teams with 6 minutes remaining. The Fighting Cocks looked to have survived this fight-back when wing forward Alan Joyce extended their advantage back out to 5 points with 4 minutes remaining but another rally by the home side led by Cian Lawlor who had started in goal yielded a goal from the hard working Adam Mullen and points from Mick Delaney and Sean Kirwan before referee John Dunphy brought matters to a close after an entertaining hours football. In addition to goal hero Mick Moore and Cian Lawlor, Tinryland had other outstanding players in Rory Doyle, Sean Kirwan, Seamus Curran, Gary Scully, and Mick Delaney.
